This October, the S-STEM Resource and Evaluation Center (REC) will host the 2025 S-STEM Scholars Meeting in San Diego, California. To commemorate this meeting, we invited S-STEM Scholars to design the logo we will use in promotional materials, communications, and meeting signage.
We are thrilled to announce that the logo selected for the 2025 S-STEM Scholars Meeting was created by Kyra Campbell, an S-STEM scholar at Marist University, whose design “illustrates two collaborating images that embody the S-STEM conference and the aesthetics of San Diego.”

The logo features dual images depicting STEM tools and symbols and a beachy San Diego scene. A blue cell (also a blue pool) with organelles and genetic material double as surfboards and innertubes. There is also an island with palm trees in the water composed of chromosomes and ribosomes. The cell/pool is surrounded by sand and umbrellas. The symbols included throughout the sandy background depict many of the disciplines that will be represented by S-STEM Scholars at this year’s meeting.
Kyra was born and raised in Southern California. She is currently a sophomore at Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York where she is double majoring in Environmental Science and Biochemistry. At Marist, she is also a member of the Dean’s Circle, a peer tutor in biology and chemistry, and a chemistry lab assistant. Currently, she is researching the MSC2 gene that is involved with endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis and mitochondrial functioning. Her current long term career goal is to continue molecular biology research. She is most interested in immunology or neurology. In her free time, Kyra enjoys playing tennis and volleyball and has started a business making custom baked goods on order for fellow students.
Logo design contest participants were asked to create something that captured the spirit and goals of the S-STEM program and recognize San Diego, CA as the 2025 meeting location.

As the designer of this year’s selected logo, Kyra will be recognized at the 2025 S-STEM Scholars Meeting with a certificate and gift card.
The S-STEM REC team is grateful for so much engagement by scholars in this contest. The level of thought and creativity across the designs our team received made it difficult to decide on just one logo. In the coming weeks, we will highlight the logo designs from each of the contest finalists on social media. Thank you to all of this year’s participants and we look forward to future opportunities for you to share your artistic talents!
