Gregor Posadas in his Boise State undergraduate degree graduation regalia.
My hope is that within the next decade I can find myself in a career where I feel a sense of fulfillment. I have always dreamed of working in a field which could directly help the community, which is ultimately why I pursued a degree in Civil Engineering in the first place; particularly, in the field of Environmental Engineering. That being said, the S-STEM program has provided me with the opportunity to pursue my master’s degree while also conducting meaningful research. I am currently doing a thesis on a novel method of improving wastewater treatment plant performance through enhancing microbial performance. I believe this research will help improve our understanding of water treatment methodologies, which in turn will help us address issues related to water reuse and environmental sanitation in a world with which populations are constantly increasing while resources, such as potable water, are continuously being depleted. With that, I hope that I can continue to work on issues related to potable water reuse and making clean water accessible to everyone.
