In the next 5-10 years, I envision myself in a medicinal chemistry lab, synthesizing nanomaterials or probes for drug delivery and synthesis, and innovating new drug designs. I want to work in different environments in terms of industry, government, and more to enhance my skills and gain experiences. The S-STEM program is pivotal in this journey, navigating life as a first-generation student has its hurdles, but S-STEM consistently addresses my questions and curiosities. My STEM advisor has been instrumental in my grad school applications and honing my communication skills. STEM conferences have broadened my perspective, inspiring me to pursue advanced education and conquer any fear of failure. I’m now more self-accepting, embracing opportunities before succumbing to self-doubt. After all, there’s no harm in trying, right? The S-STEM program has been transformative; without it, I wouldn’t have reached this point, nor would I have had the chance to connect with scientists and scholars, exchanging insights and experiences. I am incredibly thankful for the steadfast support that has been offered to students such as myself. Furthermore, I deeply appreciate the invaluable chance to openly discuss our individual journeys and share our insights.
