Ellena Sempeles is a researcher in the Human Services, Education Statistics program at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), where she manages and supports large-scale survey research projects for federal clients including the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Her work focuses on the full life cycle of multimode data collection, including instrument development, contact material preparation, CATI and web-based system testing, fieldwork monitoring, and protocol refinement to ensure high-quality data. Ms. Sempeles currently serves as a task lead and data steward on multiple education and health studies, where she leads the implementation of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research. She also supports data processing and statistical analysis, and contributes to the development of technical documentation, training materials, and operational procedures. Her expertise includes questionnaire design, survey methodology, and database management. She holds a Master of Science in Survey and Data Science from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Christopher Newport University.
