Kaila Thorn is an assistant professor of environmental science at Hollins University. Her career began through the Jekyll Island 4-H Center working with youth in environmental education. After a few years working with youth in environmental and experiential education, she decided to refine her education skills and received a M.S. in Agriculture and Extension Education from The Pennsylvania State University. While there she worked with the NE Climate Hub exploring Farmer’s Perceptions towards Climate Change and evaluated projects in agricultural settings. Following these experiences, Kaila went on to pursue a Ph.D. where she worked with UNESCO on developing and honing participatory approaches to young adult programming and evaluation. Presently, she serves as the Participatory Evaluator for Hollins University’s S-STEM-funded Artemis Scholarship Program for Women in STEM.
