Since 2022, Matthew C Fleenor, PhD, serves as the Margaret Duke (1944) Chair in Applied Physics at the University of Mary Washington, in addition to his role as professor of physics and astronomy. For the past fifteen years, he has supported and cultivated the growth of undergraduate physics programs, particularly within historically minoritized and underrepresented student populations. As a curriculum developer for the Skynet Robotic Telescope Network, Matt works collaboratively with undergraduates to better understand how observation and theory fit together. In the classroom, he maintains that education is a relational process of asking better questions. Matt is also an aspiring husband, father, and adult, who remains open to being a student of life.
