Rebecca Whittaker Matte, M.S. is an Associate Professor of Education at Landmark College in Putney, Vermont. Rebecca earned a B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire and an M.S. in Human Service Administration from New England College. Serendipity brought her into explicit awareness of neurodifferences at Landmark College in the early 90’s. She has nearly 30 years of experience in the fields of neurodiversity and learning disabilities as they intersect with student life, and the transitions to college and work. She is a long-standing champion of strengths-based approaches; she is a certified consultant for The Birkman Method and Gallup Clifton Strengths and is an ICF Certified Coach. Rebecca’s holistic approach to the classroom and curriculum is born of her years dedicated to students not easily served in traditional systems. Her mission is to help students identify and harness their natural strengths and ensure that understand how their practices and engagements inside and outside of the classroom are connected to their success. She is a co-principal investigator on the National Science Foundation’s Access to Innovative Education in STEM grant, where she works with colleagues to design and implement programming and mentorship to support low-income, neurodivergent students in STEM fields. She loves her work and is gratified by daily experiences.
